This book will tell who the Gurkhas are and where they come from. It will describe their manners, customs, and character, and their history as soldiers, with special attention to their unique skills and remarkable valor. Their story is as colorful and as romantic as that of the French Foreign Legion, and yet it has never been fully or adequately told.5/5(1). About the Edition This book deals with everything that concerns the Gorkha people in India and their demand for the separate state of Gorkhaland. In Section One of the book, the author indulges in the Sociological and Anthropological Study of the Gorkha people, Pages:

Craig Lawrence is the author of five books: two novels (both featuring Harry Parker); a book on strategy and strategic leadership for RCDS; and two commemorative Gurkha histories, both of which have become Amazon best-sellers. He is now working on another book on leadership, as well as on the third book in the Harry Parker series. The word Gurkha can mean many things to many people, and this is largely because not every Nepali is a Gurkha, and certainly the Gurkhas are not confined strictly to Nepal. The most accurate definition of a Gurkha would probably be a member of a loosely confederated group of clans owing fealty to the Gurkha military tradition and belonging to.

This book will tell who the Gurkhas are and where they come from. It Gorkhas book describe their manners, customs, and character, and their history as soldiers, with special attention to their unique skills and remarkable valor/5(18).

First let me say that i enjoy most books about special forces units. It's a subject I like and find very interesting. I assumed that a book about Gurkhas would contain all the interesting things about other special forces units with the added attraction of Gurkha history and lore.

The book does contain some stories and history of the Gurkhas /5(). This inspired book takes the story of the famed Gurkhas up to more recent times. While Byron Farwell has covered much of this story in his earlier book about the Gurkhas in the Gorkhas book army, John Parker provides a more up-to-date coverage.

The book is also enlivened by the author's travelogue account of a recent visit to Nepal/5(43). A very good general book about the Gurkhas. Would have liked to had more specific stories of course, but it covered the entire history of England and Gurkhas's relationship up through the Falklands.

There was single stores and first hand accounts from both retired Gurkhas and Bristish soldiers/5. Britain's gurkhas, CHRISTOPHER BULLOCK This book was written by Christopher Bullock and was published in Of the many factual Gurkha books out there, this has to be my favourite (other than my own!) because it was written by someone, like me, who spent his military career serving with Gurkhas.

A great book by Dwight McLemore about the Kukri, a Nepalese Machete/Knife ; a must read for the people interested in the CQB methods from the Gurkhas Regiment and also for lots of Filipino Martial Arts Practitionners ; as its use is close to the Filipino Bolo Machete/5(63).

Powerful, heart-rending and unforgettable, 'Gurkha Guns' tells the true story of a young Gurkha soldier's life before, during and after, the Falklands War.
